Directions to The Black Horse from North of the River Tyne.

On the Newcastle western bypass (A1) heading south. You will drive down over the Tyne, and then past the Metro Centre on your left. Go past the Metro Centre, under the exit for Whickham, and past the feed-off lane (A184) for Gateshead. Get into the left hand lane which is a feed-out for the roundabout for the A692 to Consett.
Follow the signs for the A692 Consett & Sunniside, which is a right turn at the roundabout. Follow this road straight for about 3 miles to the village of Sunniside. At the end of the village is a garage on the left situated at the traffic lights, followed by a turning, signposted A6076 left to Stanley.
Take this left turn, and drive for about a mile. You will come to the crest of a hill, with a long straight road ahead of you. You will see a white building approaching on your left. 50 yards before this is a road turning to your left, running between this building and the Beamish Park Hotel. Take this. (Don't worry if you miss it, there is another directly after the white building). Follow this back lane for roughly half a mile, past a farm on your left. On your left you will see a large green building - which is thew Aston workshop - after the electricity 'A' post.
Continue down over the next hill and round a slight bend in the road and you will see the signs for the pub entrance.  You will now see The Black Horse public house on your left set back from the road down a short lane - car parking is available in an adjoining car park.

Directions to The Black Horse from Chester le Street.

Follow the A1(M) until you reach the turn off for Chester-le-Street. At the roundabout take the road sign-posted A693 for Stanley and the Beamish Museum.
Take this road, and head for Stanley. After crossing two roundabouts, you will come across a third, roundabout where the signs for Beamish Museum tell you to turn off to the right - take this turn.
Just in front of the arched entrance to the museum, there is a left turn, which you must take.
Keep on this road down into the bottom of the valley, past a high wall on your left and through a very sharp left-hand turn, past the Coppy Lodge on your right, until you arrive at a 'T' junction, with a hump-backed bridge to the left. Turn right at this junction, the road goes up then levels out and then up and levels out again.
You will now see The Black Horse public house on your right set back from the road down a short lane - car parking is available in an adjoining car park.
