We have worked hard to become a COVID secure business and have received the VisitEngland ‘We’re Good to Go’ accreditation as well as fantastic feedback from our guests. The safety of our guests and staff continues to be our main priority and so our previous COVID procedures remain in place:
Firstly, all guests are required to wear face coverings in the public areas of the restaurant and may remove the coverings once seated in a bar or restaurant.
We have a Track & Trace QR code available at Reception and we encourage all our guests to scan the QR code on arrival.
Social distancing measures, temperature checks, and our new cleaning protocols, will also continue to ensure you have a magical stay at Black Horse Beamish.
Once again, I would like to thank you for your continued support. We look forward to welcoming you back to Red Row Estate soon.

We are certified by Visit England's Good To Go Covid-19 certification and following the best practices including; following government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, have an extensive Risk Assessment in place and a thorough process to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.

What will happen when I first arrive?

Due to the ongoing pandemic it is now compulsory at the Black Horse Beamish for guests to wear face coverings on arrival/exit when not seated. This to ensure the safety of all staff and customers.

We understand that some customers have exemptions from wearing face masks due to health conditions or hidden disabilities and we ask guests to wear a mask only if you can.

Please follow directional signage, we are using only one entrance to the restaurant via the back entrance. You will be greeted at our outdoor host stand located at the back of the premises next to the car park and clearly marked, from there our host team member will ask if you would like food or drinks only and you will be asked for personal details for track and tracing purposes (this is mandatory from government guidance). Guests will be directed to their table from here.

To comply with the law, all table reservations must be eithe upto 6 guests from two household. Or split onto different tables within the restaurant. This is subject to availability.

What are our hand sanitising procedures?

We are promoting extensive hand hygiene for our customers with fixed hand sanitisers points available throughout our restaurant, toilets and grounds. You will also be expected to sanitise hands on arrival at our host stand.

What can you expect within the restaurant?

The restaurant will feature floor markings which are visible by the signage throughout and our restaurant will run at a reduced capacity to keep in line with 2 meter social distancing. Orders and delivery of food will be made at your table ensuring a safe distance between our team members and customers. Tables of up to 6 guests only within the restaurant with table service only for both food and drinks. Your allotted table time is 1 hour and 30 minutes or 2 hours for tables of 6 or more.

What are we doing to look after our team so they can look after you?

Our team are trained with our new health, hygiene and social distancing procedures to keep both the team and customers safe. All team members will be wearing PPE and can include visors, masks, apron and gloves.

Each team member is assigned specific areas and duties to give the very best service and experience possible whilst keeping safe.

How are we reducing contact?

We are minimising contact as much as possible which includes:

  • Wrapped cutlery and condiment sachets
  • Socially distanced ordering and delivering of food by a member of staff
  • Single-use recyclable menus
  • Card payments only and contactless where possible
  • Bar screens at the Orchard Marquee drinks only area
