Aimee and Karl - July 2021

Tell us all about your wedding! What colour scheme, theme and flowers did you choose?

Initially we were due to be married in March so we had bought sage green brides maids dresses to pair with pastel colours. Our date was changed to July due to covid so Chloe from Blush and Blossom events paired our bridesmaid dress colours with a bright and bold colour palette and flowers.

Tell us about the dress… What style was it? Where was it from?

My dress is a fishtail dress. I actually bought 2 dresses as I fell out of love with the first due to it being too low cut and a gold ivory colour. I wanted white and higher neck, so the girls from Yap Bridal helped me find the dress I fell in love with.

Any funny stories from the wedding?

I was so nervous during my vows, I said to my ‘awful wedded husband’ but it actually made the ceremony and gave us all a moment to remember.

What was your highlight of the day?

Marrying my husband and my grandparents being there to see it.

Tell us about your entertainment…

I had the beautiful Jess Hynes sing pre ceremony, ceremony and drinks reception. It was perfect for our outdoor drinks reception. On the evening we had house of sax which gave the ultimate celebration.

What wedding menu did you choose?

For our menu we chose chicken and black pudding spring rolls to begin with which received so many compliments. For our main course we had a roast dinner, the beef was to die for and they even accompanied special requests for some guests which required well done. For dessert we had a classic, sticky toffee pudding. My husband is a chef and he is very particular with his food so I was initially worried about our wedding menu but we both couldn’t fault it.

Tell us about your wedding photos… which one was your favourite and why?

I don’t think I could choose a favourite wedding photograph as I love them all. They are so natural and perfectly capture every moment of the day.

What made you choose Black Horse Beamish?

I had attended a wedding at the Black Horse prior to booking and I absolutely loved the experience and the views which made me consider it for our wedding.

Advice for other brides and grooms?

Don’t stress. My bridal party commented on how much of a chill bride I was in the morning, which really allowed me enjoy it but I completely stressed out when the guests started arriving, I forgot to put my jewellery on and put my wedding perfume on! I was so desperate to get the ceremony over I forgot those little things and forgot to pose for pre ceremony pictures! You are marrying your best friend so enjoy every moment.
